Overview

The Augusta Health Board of Directors established this scholarship in memory of the late Board member John B. Davis, honoring his many contributions to the health system and the larger community. John served as an active board member for 23 years (1998-2021), also serving on multiple committees and as a continual supporter of the Augusta Health Foundation. In February 2021, the Augusta Health Board of Directors unanimously approved the establishment of a scholarship endowment in John’s memory. The $1,200 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student pursuing a degree in health care or a certificate in an allied health profession. The awardee must have historical ties in Augusta County, including the cities of Staunton or Waynesboro. TThe scholarship is administrated by the Community Partnership Committee of the Augusta Health Board of Directors. Scoring of applications will be based on academic field of study, financial need, academic performance, and a strong record of meaningful community service that reflects a genuine commitment to helping others in their community. Applicants must show evidence of satisfactory academic performance, with a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Applications will also be scored on personal qualifications such as goal setting and self-motivation.
