Annual award recognizing outstanding educators who demonstrate commitment to bettering students' lives and embodying the values of the Medal of Honor: Patriotism, Citizenship, Courage, Integrity, Sacrifice, and Commitment.

    Program Details

  • Part of the Heritage Center's Teacher Fellowship Program
  • Year-long commitment with compensation provided to Fellows
  • Fellows participate in book studies, field trips, lesson and activity crafting, and professional learning opportunities
  • Program culminates with educator workshops at the Heritage Center where Fellows introduce their crafted lessons and activities

    Eligibility

  • Teachers from Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama
  • Must be part of the Teacher Fellowship Program cohort

Selection Criteria

One outstanding Teacher Fellow is selected annually to receive the Katie Fields Bell Teacher Fellow Award in honor of Katie Fields Bell, late wife of General B.B. Bell, who was dedicated to supporting children's education.

How to Apply

Application Process

Applicants must apply to be part of the Heritage Center's Teacher Fellowship Program first, which is the pathway to the Katie Fields Bell Teacher Fellow Award.

Fellowship Program Structure:

  • Year-long commitment

  • Participation in book studies, field trips, lesson and activity crafting

  • Various professional learning opportunities throughout the year

  • Program culminates with educator workshops at the Heritage Center
  • Selection for Katie Fields Bell Award:

  • One fellow from the annual cohort is selected by the Heritage Center

  • Selection based on passion for education, student engagement, and embodiment of Medal of Honor values

  • Award is presented at the Heritage Center's annual Celebration of Valor event
