Nathaniel C. Hughes History Club

Overview:
Free, after-school program for middle and high school students designed to foster a love of history, encourage safe socialization, and teach the stories and values of the Medal of Honor.

    Program Details

  • After-school program at the Heritage Center
  • Open to all middle and high school students
  • Separate groups for middle and high school students
  • Each group meets once a week
  • Program is completely free to students
  • Focuses on historical topics with semester-long units
  • Culminates in project presentations and awards ceremony

    Program Goals

  • Support community after hearing concerns about youth socialization
  • Foster a love of history
  • Encourage safe socialization
  • Teach stories and values of Medal of Honor Recipients
  • Develop diverse project formats: diagrams, speeches, poems, art, dance, documentaries
