Kaiser Childcare Grant

Overview: Short-term childcare grant provided to eligible Kaiser Permanente employees to help cover childcare costs.

Status: This was a temporary emergency benefit during the COVID-19 pandemic (effective 8/17/2020 - 12/19/2020). Status as of 2026 is unclear; this may no longer be active.

Award Amount: $200 per week

Geographic Scope: Kaiser Permanente facilities in Oregon and Southwest Washington

Eligibility:

  • Employees required to report to work at a Kaiser Permanente (KP) facility (e.g., RNs, EVS workers, receptionists, pharmacy workers)

  • Employees directed to care for patients in person at a non-KP facility

  • Full-time (32+ hours), part-time, and per diem employees working at least 20 hours per week

  • Must be required to report to work at KP facility for scheduled shifts or directed to care for patients in person at non-KP facility

  • Employees working remotely/at home are NOT eligible
  • Use of Funds:

  • Childcare costs for school-aged children (age 14 or younger)

  • Childcare for disabled dependent children
  • What is NOT Covered:

  • Childcare for employees working remotely or at home

    How to Apply

    Application Process:
    1. Can be applied for weekly
    2. Payments issued on next payroll cycle
    3. Must provide weekly attestation

    Required Documentation:

  • Weekly attestation including:

  • - Hours worked in facility
    - Caregiver name
    - Caregiver phone number
    - Caregiver address
    - Caregiver email

    Important Notes:

  • Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to validate submitted information

  • Eligible hours are those worked in a facility (time off benefits do not count)

  • Grant amount will be prorated for employees working 20-32 hours per week

  • Full-time defined as 32+ hours

  • School-aged defined as age 14 or younger
