Overview
Navy Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Respite Care
Funder: Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Child & Youth Programs and Navy Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), administered by Child Care Aware of America (CCAoA)
Geographic Scope: Available throughout the United States
Status: Active program. Important Note: This is not an entitlement program and is subject to the availability of funds.
Purpose
Provides respite care services to Navy families caring for children with special needs. The program gives parents the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate with peace of mind, knowing their children will be well cared for.- The Sponsor is active duty or Reservist on active duty orders
- The Sponsor is currently enrolled in the Navy's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)
- The Sponsor has a child currently residing with him/her, enrolled in EFMP
- Child age range: birth through 18 years
- Child is scored at the two highest level-of-need categories (level-of-need 3 or 4)
Eligibility Requirements
Navy families are eligible if:- An authorized allotment of respite care per family per month
- Respite care provided by well-trained and background-screened providers who are monitored by local partner agencies
- Respite care services available in: - The family's home - A family child care home - An off-base child care center - Services provided by approved providers only

How to Apply
How to Apply and Be Added to the Wait List
Parents must follow these steps:
#### Step One: Create an Account and Household Profile
1. All Active Duty and Reservist on Active Duty interested in placing their child(ren) on the Navy's wait list for EFMP Respite Care Program must create an account and household profile on MilitaryChildCare.com
2. Important: If you do not create a profile on MilitaryChildCare.com, your child(ren) will not be placed on the wait list
#### Step Two: Confirm Your Eligibility for EFMP Respite Care
1. All Active Duty Navy families must contact CCAoA after you create your account and household profile in MilitaryChildCare.com to confirm:
- Enrollment in EFMP
- Additional eligibility requirements

3. Speak with the EFMP Respite Care team to confirm eligibility
#### Step Three: Confirmation of Family Information
1. Once CCAoA confirms the Sponsor's eligibility, a specialist will verify your family on MilitaryChildCare.com
2. If steps one and two are complete, the specialist will email a confirmation that your family was added to the EFMP Respite Care Program waitlist
3. If you do not receive a response from CCAoA, please call 800-424-2246
- Account and household profile on MilitaryChildCare.com
- Proof of active duty status or Reservist on active duty orders
- Confirmation of EFMP enrollment
- Documentation of child's level-of-need (3 or 4)
