Overview

The Julius Sumner Miller Foundation is dedicated to benefiting society by supporting programs that foster science, especially physics, and aid health care for the elderly that improves their quality of life. Toward this mission, the Foundation is primarily interested in awarding strategically significant project grants to public charities in the South Bay region of southern California in the following fields: Science Education (especially physics) and/orHealth Care (specifically in-home & domestic services) Julius Sumner Miller Foundation Grant This program for which support is requested should offer a significant response to a demonstrated need in the area of education or health care. Please note that the Foundation seeks programs that, in addition to providing valuable services, have a strategy to measure the positive impact that the proposed service(s) will provide. The Foundation makes a single, annual grant to a given applicant or program; however, multi-year grants may be considered, depending on the goals of the project and the results attained. Grant amounts vary according to the type of project and the needs of the awardee.

Current Tax-Exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 501(c)(3) and That it is not a Private Foundation under IRS Section 509.Grants are made only to organizations that are nondiscriminatory on the basis of age, disability, race, religion, ethnic origin, gender and sexual preference.

Ineligibility

In general, the Foundation will not make contributions to:

Individuals .Fundraising events
.Organizations with religious affiliations, unless the program is open to the entire community without regard to religious beliefs
.Organizations and programs designed to influence legislation or elect public officials
.Endowment campaigns or annual fund drives
.Fraternal organizations
.Organizations outside of southern California.
