Program Type: Matching grant and interest-free loan for childcare facility expansion and startup

Funding Available

• Total Pool: $50,000 made available on a first-come, first-serve basis
• Per Project: 1:1 match, not to exceed $10,000 in matching funds
• Interest-Free Loan: Pro-rated and forgiven over 2 years, contingent upon project completion

Eligible Applicants

• New childcare startups
• Existing childcare facilities seeking remodels that directly increase capacity
• Building owners or store proprietors/tenants with lease authority or authorization from the owner
• Must have valid state of North Dakota childcare license (or be in process of obtaining one)

• Fixtures
• Furniture
• Equipment
• Construction-related build-out costs

Requirements

• Approval required before project start date
• All receipts must be submitted before reimbursement
• Project must be a licensed (or in process of licensing) childcare facility through the state of ND
• Providers receiving match dollars must remain in operation for minimum of 2 years from application date
• Failure to remain in operation for 2 years results in prorated return of grant dollars to JSDC
• New and existing providers receiving startup assistance are ineligible for any other JSDC programming assistance
• Applicant must maintain valid license for number of children or greater specified at time of application approval
• Tenants must have minimum of two years remaining on lease
• Subject building must be correctly zoned

Payment Terms

• Funds paid in lump sum at end of project as reimbursement of costs incurred
