Joyce Bytof Memorial Cancer Survivors Scholarship Cancer survivors appreciate life more than most. Imagine if you will, being a child and a cancersurvivor. After what has been a horrific ordeal, this child is now ready to begin life again. Mosthave dreamt of college, only to understand some very humbling facts. First, their family has more than likely been financially set back by this disease. They’ve probably missed a good share of school, so their academic achievements probably won’t qualify for any kind of scholarship. And sport achievement, well that went out the window the day they heard the word “cancer.” Joyce Bytof, herself fought this awful disease, and wanted to help students who have dealt with it as well. In 2007, Joyce established a fund in collaboration with the American Cancer Society to award scholarships to a survivor of childhood cancer who was graduating from high school and wanted to continue their education at a college, university, or technical college. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Joyce passed away on October 31, 2013. Her family wanted to carry on her legacy by establishing the Joyce Bytof Memorial Cancer Survivors Scholarship in her memory.Eligibility
