John T. & Elizabeth C. Adams Arts Fund Grant

The John T. & Elizabeth C. Adams Arts Fund Grant, established by the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, aims to enhance artistic quality in the Duluth-Superior area. It supports programs that enrich performances and artistic services, promoting cultural growth. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental entities in the region, which encompasses parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as specific tribal nations. The fund is committed to fostering community through the arts.

We are a collection of hundreds of endowed funds established by individuals, families, private foundations, and businesses to enhance the quality of life in our region. Since our inception, we have distributed more than $40 million in grants and scholarships and currently administer over 360 different funds, each with its own charitable purpose. The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation promotes private giving for the public good.
Fund Description
John T. and Elizabeth C. Adams Arts Fund is designed to attract programs of artistic quality to the Duluth-Superior area and enrich performances, exhibits and artistic services for area organizations.

Eligibility

To be eligible for funding, an organization must be Classified under one of the following categories:Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (i.e., traditional nonprofit)Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code (e.g., governmental entities and schools)Section 7871 Tribal governmentChurchOrganization with a fiscal agent that is classified under one of the above categoriesLocated in, or provide services to, residents within our service area, which includes:Bayfield, Douglas, and Ashland Counties in northwestern Wisconsin,Seven counties in northeast Minnesota (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis), and/orThe following tribal nations:Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa/MashkiiziibiiBois Forte Band of Chippewa/AtisokanigamigFond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa/Nah-Gah-Chi-Wa-NongGrand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa/Gichi OnigamingLeech Lake Band of OjibweMille Lacs Band of OjibweRed Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa/Gaa-Miskwaabikaang

Ineligibility

The Community Foundation does not make grants to/for:

• Individuals (aside from scholarships initiated or managed by the Community Foundation)
• Fundraising activities
• Requests from re-granting organizations for its own grant making activities
• Tickets for benefits
• Telephone solicitations
• Endowments
• Religious organizations for religious activities
• Medical research
• Debt retirement
• Political organizations or campaigns
• Organizations with significant activity considered influencing of legislation
