About Our Scholarships Since 1983, the Community Foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships from 136 funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits to help area students pursue an education and establish rewarding careers. John E. Boyle, Jr. Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established by the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society in loving memory of John E. Boyle, Jr., a decorated Air Force Staff Sargent, accomplished custom home builder, and passionate golfer and athlete who passed away on June 20, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. For graduating seniors from Groton, Ledyard, Stonington and North Stonington who plan to pursue studies in law, criminal justice, applied sciences, trades, sports management or sport sciences.Eligibility
