John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship Fund (Walden Savings Bank)

Geographic Scope: Multiple school districts in Orange and Sullivan Counties

Award Amount: $500 scholarship per student per school

Purpose: Created by Walden Savings Bank in memory of John D. Garrison, immediate past president of Walden Savings Bank, as a way to honor his community leadership, kindness, and care.

Participating Schools:

  • Cornwall Central High School

  • Marlboro Central High School

  • Newburgh Free Academy

  • Pine Bush Central High School

  • Valley Central High School

  • Wallkill Central High School

  • Washingtonville Central High School

  • S.S. Seward Institute in Florida, NY (expanded in 2011)
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of good character

  • Demonstrate community involvement and be service-oriented

  • College bound

  • Plan to study business or finance
  • Administrator: Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, 501(c)(3) public charity
