Overview

Jim and Sue Bernstein Health Center Scholarships

Overview: Provides scholarships to families and dependents of employees of North Carolina's rural health clinics.

Background: Founded in 2006 by James (Jim) D. Bernstein, FHLI's founding director who dedicated his life to improving health and wellness in North Carolina's rural communities. Jim helped establish a network of 81 community-based clinics and centers across the state. His wife, a former Peace Corps volunteer, joined him in creating this scholarship program.

Impact: Since inception in 2006, more than $166,000 has been awarded to more than 100 North Carolina scholars.
