Fund Summary The mission of the Jenkins Foundation is to improve the well-being of all people in the Richmond region and reduce health disparities through informed, strategic, and impactful philanthropy. The Jenkins Foundation was established as a supporting organization of the Community Foundation upon the sale of Retreat Hospital in 1995. The foundation is named for Annabella Ravenscroft Jenkins, a 19th century pioneer who established Retreat for the Sick with the assistance of other remarkable Richmond women who shared her concern about the health care needs of the underserved. Their effort provided healthcare on a sliding fee basis and free care to those who could not pay. Today, the Jenkins Foundation embodies that same spirit of compassion in addressing modern day challenges. Our Grants We envision a community in which all residents lead healthy, stable and productive lives. Through strategic philanthropy and collaborative learning, we are investing in three key focus areas: Access to Primary Care: • Safety net clinics • Dental and oral health care • Case coordination and community health workers • Home visiting Access to Mental Health: • Counseling • Mental health education • Residential mental health treatment • Trauma-informed care Prevention and Treatment of Substance Use Disorders: • Substance use disorder counseling • Substance use disorder residential treatment

Eligibility

Grant purposes must align with the Jenkins Foundation's primary focus areas.The primary focus of these awards are for operational and programmatic purposes.Proposals will be accepted from charitable organizations, which serve the residents of the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Goochland, and Powhatan. For organizations new to Jenkins, please contact the Foundation to have a conversation prior to applying.Occasional consideration will be given to capital campaign requests. If you are interested in submitting a capital request, please contact the Founation in advance. Organizations must align with Jenkins Foundation's strategic priorities, and have a history of past support, and be able to demonstrate how capital funding enhances serves.
