Program Description:
The Jeff Tabor Memorial EMT Scholarship supports students attending and completing CMC's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program. The scholarship honors the memory of Alum Jeff Tabor, an Emergency Medical Technician who served the Morongo Basin community.

Background

Jeff Tabor was a CMC alumnus who:
• Completed Certificate of Proficiency in EMT on July 15, 2008
• Graduated with Associate of Science in Fire Technology on May 25, 2011
• Worked for the Morongo Basin Ambulance and Hi-Desert Medical Center in the emergency room
• Was well-known and respected in the community as an "amazing humanitarian"

Following Jeff's sudden death, friends wanted to honor him. With his father Bill's blessing, they established the Jeff Tabor Memorial EMT Scholarship. The community's generous response exceeded expectations:

Two full-ride scholarships ($1,760 each) from two donors

Additional $3,435 from 34 other donors

Eligibility

• Target Audience: CMC students
• Program Requirement: Enrolled in or planning to complete CMC's EMT program
• Focus: Supporting completion of the Emergency Medical Technician program

Award Amount

• Covers estimated EMT program cost: $1,760
• Distributed based on Foundation's collaboration with College's Health Sciences Department

Award Purpose

To help students attend and complete CMC's EMT program, supporting the development of well-trained EMTs to serve the community
