Geographic Scope: International; open to ISTM members globally

• Travel medicine research across all aspects of the field
• Vaccine development and immunogenicity studies
• Malaria chemoprophylaxis and prevention
• Travelers' diarrhea and infectious diseases
• Altitude illness and mountain medicine
• Rabies prevention and post-exposure prophylaxis
• Yellow fever vaccination research
• Parasite infections and screening
• Travel-related health conditions in special populations
• Migrants and refugees health issues
• Dengue, Zika, and other arthropod-borne diseases
• Mobile health applications for travel medicine
• Research in low/middle-income countries (LMIC)

Award Purpose: The awards are designed to stimulate travel medicine research by supporting:

• Comprehensive research projects
• Pilot studies for larger projects to enable data collection and hypothesis testing
• Projects that will help researchers apply to other agencies for substantive research grants

Eligibility:

• Must be an ISTM member
• Open to professionals and researchers from all disciplines within travel and migration medicine
• Includes support for new investigators
• Special consideration for research in low/middle-income countries
• Interest and Professional Groups may apply

Special Funding Categories:

• Low/Middle Income Country (LMIC) Award: Dedicated funding for research in resource-limited countries and emerging markets
• New Investigator category
• Group applications from ISTM Professional Groups (e.g., Pharmacist Professional Group)

Selection Process: Peer-review process implemented by the ISTM Research and Awards Committee
