Overview

SAEMF/Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA) Research Pilot Grant Purpose of the Award The SAEMF/GEMA Research Pilot Grant awards $10,000 over a one-year period starting July 1 to support a junior researcher in the field of international emergency medicine to enter a mentored project in collaboration with an international partner or partners. This grant is meant to support the travel costs of the awardee as well as minor direct research costs to allow for field participation in a project. Expectations of the Award This grant is not intended to support an independent research project, but instead to support the applicant's role in a larger or existing project related to international emergency medicine/global health in collaboration with an international partner or partners. The mentor is expected to have an ongoing or planned project in global/international emergency medicine that requires participation of a junior researcher. The grant may support sub-studies, adjacent studies, and studies that build on prior work (e.g. a registry) conducted by the mentor. The SAEMF/GEMA Research Pilot Grant awardee is expected to: Attend the SAEM Annual Meeting during the award year. Submit interim and final progress reports in accordance with SAEMF instructions. Submit an abstract reporting the results of the research project for presentation at the SAEM Annual Meeting. As the selection of research abstracts is a competitive process, acceptance is not assured.
