Overview

Individual Student Grant Assistance

Purpose: Assistance for students in difficult circumstances that prevent them from participating in valuable educational experiences with peers.

Geographic Scope: Galveston Independent School District (GISD), Texas

Eligibility:

  • GISD students in difficult circumstances

  • Must have a GISD educator serving as the student's sponsor

  • Only GISD employees can submit applications on behalf of students

    • Award Amount:

  • Up to $500 per student

  • Funding amounts are at the discretion of the GEF Grants Committee

    • Deadline:

  • Available year-round with a rolling deadline

  • Applications considered for funding as quickly as possible

    • Related Program: Julie Schmid Student Support Fund (supports children in difficult circumstances)

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Step 1: Submit Application

  • All applications must be submitted electronically through Submittable (third-party platform)

  • Paper applications will NOT be accepted

  • GISD educator serves as student sponsor and submitter

  • Applicants will create an account with login credentials

    • Required Attachments:
    1. Letter of support from the appropriate principal or department head
    2. Completed copy of GEF's grant proposal budget template

    Review Process:

  • Projects reviewed by Grants Committee and considered for funding as quickly as possible

  • Funding determined on case-by-case basis
