IMPACTT - Technology Transfer for Impact Ventures

Overview: An online technology transfer curriculum program for Indiana high school students, developed through partnership between Circular Venture Lab, University of Evansville's Center for Innovation and Change, and STARTedUP Foundation. Funded by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Community Energy Innovation Prize.

Geographic Scope: Indiana (statewide online program)

Eligibility:

  • Indiana high school students

  • Early entrepreneurship and technology-focused students
  • Focus Areas:

  • Technology transfer and innovation

  • Technology invention and patent research

  • Early entrepreneurship education

  • Clean energy and climate innovation (per DOE Justice40 Initiative)

  • Economic development and workforce development

  • Critical analysis of technology available from universities and federal agencies
  • Program Features:

  • Participants identify, research, and critically analyze technology inventions and patents available for license

  • Access to patents from universities and U.S. federal agencies including Department of Energy, NASA, and Department of Defense

  • Launched in early 2025 as online curriculum

  • Designed to equip high school students with unique technology transfer skillset before college

  • Part of only high school technology transfer program in the nation

  • $100,000 awarded in March 2024 as initial winner in 2024 Manufacturing Ecosystem Track of U.S. DOE American-Made Community Energy Innovation Prize

  • $100,000 additional award in August 2024 for statewide program implementation

  • Total: $200,000 in DOE Community Energy Innovation Prize funding

  • Supports capacity building, innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development related to clean energy
