Immigration Program Grants

Geographic Scope: Santa Clara County, California

Program Focus: Provides grant opportunities to teachers interested in having their classes attend History San Jose's Immigration program, which includes field trips to History Park San Jose and the Chinese American Historical Museum.

Grade Levels: Grades 4-12

Program Description: The Immigration program explores universal issues of discrimination, cultural identity, and policies surrounding immigration. Students:

• Step into the shoes of another person through perspective-taking activities
• Discover the challenges and triumphs of real people risking everything to start a new life in California, from lands far away and just across the border
• Investigate the commonalities and differences between immigrant groups from the past and today

Delivery Format: In-person field trips or virtual version available for distance learning

Eligibility: Teachers in Santa Clara County, California with classes in grades 4-12
