Hypertension Management Program

Program Name: Aram Chobanian Memorial Hypertension Management Project

Geographic Scope: Armenia (Aragatsotn Province - Byurakan, Khndzoresk communities)

Focus Areas: Healthcare, disease prevention, hypertension management, community health education

Program Duration: Piloted October 2024; second phase launched 2025

Program Description: Comprehensive hypertension management initiative with two phases:

Phase 1 - Community Health Screening:

Blood pressure screenings and health assessments

Evaluation of health indicators including blood pressure, weight, smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, and medication adherence

Early detection of hypertension cases

October 2024: 1,700 residents of Byurakan screened (majority unaware of their high blood pressure)

Phase 2 - Healthcare Provider Training:

Professional development for approximately 20 local doctors and nurses

Training topics:

- Healthy lifestyle promotion
- Behavioral interventions
- Cardiovascular disease risk factors
- Diabetes mellitus diagnosis to treatment
- Effective hypertension management
- Global medical trends and research updates

Medication Support: Program provides access to medications for identified hypertension patients
