Mission & Focus
The Human-Animal Alliance supports nonprofit organizations that share their belief in the power and value of human-animal connection. Grant funds must directly impact humans and/or animals through programs that strengthen the human-animal bond.Geographic Scope
United States only - requests from outside the US will not be considered.- Must be a qualified public charity under section 501(c)(3)
- Valid US IRS Tax ID required
- Organization must be at least 3 years old
- Must provide Form 990 from the previous year
- Must include a minimum of two (2) letters of reference and/or client testimonials
- Organizations incorporating live animals must provide proof of insurance
- All animals must be overseen by a licensed veterinarian and current on vaccinations
- Only one application per calendar year, per organization
- All applications must be complete to be considered
Eligibility Requirements
- Individuals (no grants to individuals)
- For-profit companies
- Overhead expenses (salaries, marketing, software upgrades, etc.) - as a matter of policy
- Research projects
- Advocacy groups
- Political causes or events
- Requests from outside the United States
What H-AA Does NOT Fund
- Site visits may be required
- Applications reviewed by Board of Directors
- Formal vote conducted
- Applicants notified of acceptance or denial
- If awarded, formal grant agreement sent for signature
- If denied, brief explanation provided
- Note: Submission of application does NOT imply commitment of funding

Application Process
1. Preparation Phase
- Review H-AA mission to confirm alignment with your proposal
- Ensure relevance to H-AA's mission and current priorities
- Assess potential impact of your project
2. Application Submission
- First-time applicants: Click designated link on grants page
- Returning applicants: Use re-application link on grants page
- Fill out all sections completely
- Compile all required documentation

3. Required Documentation
- Completed application form
- Form 990 from previous year
- Minimum of 2 letters of reference and/or client testimonials
- Proof of insurance (if organization works with live animals)
- Veterinary oversight documentation (if applicable)
- Vaccination records for animals (if applicable)
- Proof of 501(c)(3) status
- US IRS Tax ID documentation
4. Review & Decision
- Board of Directors reviews application upon receipt
- Formal vote conducted
- Applicant notified of acceptance or denial decision
- One application per calendar year, per organization
- Only complete applications will be considered
- Site visits may be required
- Submission does not guarantee funding
