Program Description

The Howard E. Alls Memorial Scholarship Fund provides up to $2,500 in financial assistance per year to promising freshmen who demonstrate academic excellence and a dedicated interest in the legal profession. The scholarship honors the legacy of Attorney Howard E. Alls, who had a deep love for SSU and used his legal training to advocate for the institution.

Scholarship Purpose

The scholarship was established to:

• Carry on the name of Attorney Howard E. Alls
• Assist current and future Savannah State students in pursuit of academic excellence
• Relieve financial burden for deserving students
• Identify and provide aid to students interested in studying law and careers in the justice system
• Support development of legal professionals dedicated to making the justice system fair and equitable for all

Eligibility Requirements

• Academic Status: Full-time entering freshmen
• High School GPA: Minimum 2.8
• Financial Need: Must qualify for financial assistance
• Good Standing: Must adhere to all university policies and remain in good standing

Recent Gifts

• Attorney Willie J. Walker, Esq. donated $10,000 (June 2025) to support the scholarship fund
