By making grants and sharing knowledge, the Community Foundation supports charitable programs that work for Arkansas and partners with others to create new initiatives that address the gaps. Hot Springs Area Community Foundation: Early Literacy Grants The Early Literacy Grant Cycle supports initiatives that strengthen early childhood language and literacy development, with the goal of ensuring more children enter kindergarten ready to learn. For the 2025–2026 funding period, the program invites applications ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 that connect children—from birth to age four—to age-appropriate literacy resources and experiences. Special consideration will be given to proposals that expand access to phonics instruction by collaborating with childcare centers to implement pre-K phonemic awareness curricula, as well as projects that foster parent and community engagement in early learning. Formerly known as the Grade Level Reading grants, the program has evolved into the Excel 8 Early Literacy Grants, continuing its mission to equip young learners with the foundational skills needed for lifelong success in reading and education.
