Overview

Honorary Fellows Award

Purpose: Honors senior members of the Society who have made lifetime contributions to comparative and international education through scholarship, teaching, research, and technical service.

Established: 1982

    Eligibility Criteria

  • Outstanding record in two of the following areas (with adequate involvement in the third):
  • - Scholarly research and publication - Teaching and mentoring - Policy, planning, evaluation, technical assistance and administrative activities
  • Significant contribution to the development and quality of CIES
  • Long and distinguished career spanning more than 30 years (normally candidate will be 60 years or older)
  • Long and active membership in CIES, including recent years prior to nomination

    Recognition

  • Honored at the Annual Meeting of CIES
  • Award is conferred in the year after Board confirmation

    Timeline

  • Nominations invited for current year consideration
  • Confirmed by Board of Directors in following year
  • Awarded at Annual Meeting in year after confirmation

How to Apply

Nomination Process

Required Materials (submit as single attachment):
1. Letter of nomination by chief nominator outlining the case for nomination
- May include input from other nominators
- Must be signed by chief nominator
2. Minimum of five supporting letters from five current CIES members
- Should outline candidate's strengths in each relevant area
- Additional letters from non-CIES members may be included at nominator's discretion
3. Full academic curriculum vitae for entire career
