Funder: LifeSouth Community Foundation
Award Amount: $500 per scholarship
Geographic Scope: Service area of LifeSouth Community Blood Centers (Florida, Georgia, Alabama)
Program Focus: Supporting graduating high school seniors who demonstrate community engagement through blood drive coordination and promotion
Eligibility Requirements
- Student Status: Must be in senior year of high school at an accredited state educational facility
- Must graduate on time at the end of senior year
- Blood Drive Involvement: Must help coordinate and promote at least one successful LifeSouth blood drive between August 1 and April 30 of senior year
- Educational Continuation: Must utilize scholarship to continue education starting in fall semester following graduation at an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or professional trade school
Program Details
- Students help recruit donors and coordinate blood drives
- Drives may be held on school campus or at community-based locations during school year
- Students work with school administration and LifeSouth to organize and promote blood drive(s)
- Students are encouraged to use leadership skills and creative means to publicize need for blood donations
- Scholarship funds sent directly to the educational institution student designates
