High School Scholarship

Geographic Scope: Roanoke area high schools with Key Clubs supported by Kiwanis Club of Roanoke

Eligible Schools: Cave Spring, Hidden Valley, Northside, Patrick Henry, William Fleming, Roanoke Catholic

Award Amount: $2,500 - $6,000 per award; $20,000 total awarded annually to six students

• Academic achievement
• Financial need

Selection Process:

• Panel of Kiwanis members reviews each application
• Six finalists identified
• Finalists interviewed
• Scholarships awarded at June Kiwanis Club of Roanoke luncheon meeting

Background: Every year, the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke directs a portion of funds raised toward scholarships to deserving students in the Roanoke area.

Application Process

1. Obtain Application Form: Download fillable 2026 scholarship application form from website or access online application form
2. Complete Application: Fill out all required fields with accurate and complete information
3. Gather Required Materials:
   • School academic transcript
   • Two letters of recommendation
4. Submit Application: Submit completed application with all attachments by deadline
5. Application Review: Kiwanis member panel reviews applications
6. Finalist Interview: Selected finalists are interviewed by panel
7. Award Notification: Scholarships awarded at June luncheon meeting

Required Application Components

• Personal Information: Name, address, email, phone
• School Information: Name of high school (select from approved list)
• Family Information: Parents' names and occupations
• Financial Information: Parent taxable income, Student Aid Index (SAI), family financial obligations, number of siblings in college
• College Plans: List of colleges applied to and accepted to, total first-year expenses, financial resources available
• Academic/Community Involvement:
  • Career goals (2 sentences maximum)
  • Community service activities throughout high school
  • Work experience during high school
  • Honors and awards received
  • School activities with leadership positions
  • Two most important school/community service/work activities (up to 3 sentences each)
• Essay: "Why Do You Need This Scholarship?"
• Optional: Additional information
• Documentation: School academic transcript and two letters of recommendation
• Agreement: Attestation that all information is accurate and complete
• Signature: Digital signature required
