Principal Leadership Award - Public School Principals & Administrators Purpose The purpose of the Herb Kohl Principal Leadership Award is to recognize and support excellence in Wisconsin school administration. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation's goal is to support Wisconsin principals in pursuit of their unrealized goals for their schools or professional development. The Kohl Principal Leadership Award recipients and the schools those principals lead each receive $6,000 grants from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. The Association of Wisconsin School Administrators chooses the Elementary and Secondary Principal of the Year from among the public school recipients of the Herb Kohl Leadership Award. The Herb Kohl Foundation annually selects 100 teachers and a maximum of 17 principals to receive awards. Funding If your nominee chooses to apply, he or she will be considered for a $6,000 personal grant and a $6,000 matching grant for his or her school. Up to seventeen Leadership Awards are awarded annually-- 13 to Wisconsin public school principals and up to 4 to private school principals/administrators.Eligibility

Pre-K through Grade 12 Wisconsin Principals must be nominated for a Kohl Leadership Award to be eligible to compete for a Leadership Award. Principals can be nominated by students, parents, other teachers, community members, or school district administrators. Principals who plan to continue in their role for at least the upcoming school year are eligible to be nominated and apply.Principals who have been nominated in the past but not selected as a Leadership Award recipient may re-apply if nominated.A principal does not need to be an Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) member to be eligible for a Principal Leadership Award.Ineligibility
