Helping Hands Grants

Overview: The Christopher K. Jarvi Helping Hands Grants program focuses on strengthening youth, residents and community through supporting community-based organizations. Named after the founding Executive Director of the Anaheim Community Foundation, the Helping Hands grants honors the memory of Chris Jarvi, who passed away April 22, 2013. He was a strong advocate for youth and the Anaheim Community.

Geographic Scope: Anaheim, CA - Must primarily impact Anaheim residents

Eligible Applicants: Nonprofit organizations only. One (1) application per organization.

Award Amount: Typically $500 – $2,500

Funding Focus Areas:

  • Youth enrichment

  • Services for older adults or other at-promise populations

  • Poverty alleviation

  • Mental health services

  • Housing/homelessness services

  • STEM programs

  • Career readiness/workforce development
  • Funding Sources: Disneyland Resort, Samueli Foundation, and Anaheim residents

    Reporting Requirements: A follow-up report will be requested from grantees 60 days after the money is spent and/or by January 30, 2027.

    Application Process

    Timeline: Applications are accepted in the Fall annually, with funding announcement in December.

    Submission: Submit application online via the ACF website

    Required Information:

  • Organization name and 501(c)(3) status

  • One application per organization only

  • Program description and community impact

  • Details on how the grant will address key Anaheim needs

  • Information on populations served (youth, older adults, at-promise populations)
  • Application Requirements: Submit application as clearly and succinctly as possible. Be specific about program impact and sustainability.

    Selection Criteria:

  • Programs that serve youth or other at-risk populations

  • Services addressing key Anaheim needs: poverty, mental health, housing/homeless, STEM programs, career readiness/workforce development

  • Geographic impact on Anaheim residents
