Healthy Living Grants

Award Amount: $120,000 total annual funding (awards range from individual grants to organizations)

Geographic Scope: Culpeper, Madison, and Orange counties, Virginia

Mission & Focus Areas:
The Culpeper Wellness Foundation established the Healthy Living Grants program in 2015 to support local organizations in their work to improve health and wellness in the community. The program funds health and wellness projects across multiple focus areas including:

• Dental care services
• Health and wellness education programs
• Youth fitness and confidence-building programs
• Health literacy for adult English language learners
• Nutrition and meal programs
• Medical equipment and technology for emergency response
• Mental health and addiction recovery services
• Healthcare access for underinsured/uninsured populations
• Hearing aids and medical devices for low-income residents
• Housing and shelter services
• Healthcare training scholarships

Eligible Applicants: Nonprofit organizations serving Culpeper, Madison, and Orange counties

Selection Criteria: The Foundation's Community Grants Advisory Committee reviews applications and selects organizations and projects that:

• Will have the greatest chance for success and impact on communities
• Address unmet health and wellness needs
• Are sustainable

• Friends of Culpeper County Library – "Let's Get Healthy Culpeper" wellness program

• Culpeper Literacy Council – HEAL health literacy program for English language learners
• Manna Ministry – kitchen equipment and healthy meal provision
• Boys & Girls Club of Central Virginia – healthy lifestyle programs
• Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue – Automated Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation devices
• Sex, Drugs & God – addiction recovery coaching services
• Culpeper Mid-Day Lions Club – hearing aids for low-income residents
• Paul Stefan Foundation – fire escape replacement for homeless shelter
• Rappu, Inc. – healthcare training scholarships for students
