Grassroots Grants Program

Funder: Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods (NBN)

Geographic Scope: Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, NC

Award Amount: $500 - $5,000 per project

Program Description:
NBN offers micro-grassroots grants for community building projects. Funds come from a combination of private foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donations. NBN handles fundraising so applicants can focus on carrying out resident-led, place-based projects.

  • April 9: Letter of Intent (LOI) due

  • May 2: GRG Application due

  • June 1: Announcement of Awardees
  • Fall 2025 Cycle:

  • August 6: Letter of Intent (LOI) due

  • August 29: GRG Application due

    3. Submit Complete GRG Application
    - Summer cycle: Due May 2
    - Fall cycle: Due August 29
    - Application must address one of the three focus areas: Civic Engagement, Equitable Development, or Economic Mobility

    4. Await Award Announcement
    - Summer cycle: June 1
    - Fall cycle: October 1
