Geographic Scope: Bay Area and national focus

Purpose: Addresses historical inequities in private philanthropy and government funding sector. Provides tailored grant writing support to cultural dance companies.

Target Audience:

Cultural dance organizations

Culturally specific dance companies

Immigrant and cultural artists

Under-resourced arts organizations of, by, and for their communities

Program Components:
1. Monthly E-Newsletters - program info, grants opportunities, and success stories
2. Monthly Webinars/Labs - deep dives into grants, questions, and community support
3. One-on-One Coaching - focus on individual grant proposals
4. Proposal Reviews - direct feedback to make proposals compelling and competitive

Background: Developed from the vision of Dr. Anne Huang, inspired by her experience with Obakoso dance company and Oakland Asian Cultural Center. Created to address funding challenges faced by immigrant and cultural artists.

Future Goals:

Provide comprehensive preparation materials

Serve more artists through open application process

Hire more staff with cultural competency

Provide post-award education for financial management

Pilot a cohort of Grant Specialists who share identities with the organizations they serve
