About the Fund

This endowed fund was established to honor the legacy of Grant T. Johnson (1920-2012) and Peggy L. Pipes-Johnson (1930-2024). Both were passionate advocates for the arts and culture in the Hillsboro community.

Grant T. Johnson was a 68-year community leader dedicated to promoting arts and culture as assets for a vital, prosperous, and livable community. He played a pivotal role in establishing key community institutions including Noble Woods Park, the Hillsboro Boys and Girls Club, the Glenn and Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center, and the Hillsboro Actors Regional Theatre (HART).

Peggy L. Pipes-Johnson was a distinguished nutrition professional with a passion for theater and jazz. After Grant's passing in 2012, Peggy initiated the Grant T. Johnson Memorial Fund to honor his passion for the arts and commitment to Hillsboro. She made substantial contributions to the fund and believed in investing in the arts to build a strong community for the future.
