Note: 1) Proposals will be accepted until October 31, 2025. 2) Proposals for micro-grants of up to $500 will be accepted any time. Charlottesville Area Community Foundation We are committed to centering the experiences of those who are most impacted by the issues our region faces, and to widening access to our resources (both monetary and non-monetary) to ensure they are distributed equitably. Our Mission As a community-centered, equity forward institution, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those negatively impacted by inequitable systems across our region, so that we can be a region in which everyone can belong, participate, contribute, and thrive. Go the Distance Grants Grants that increase access to enriching activities for children and youth whose opportunities are limited by transportation barriers. Examples of some transportation barriers include activities taking place during the parents’ workday, families located in rural areas with limited enrichment programing, parents who do not drive, or the neighborhood is unsafe for walking. Solutions can involve bringing children to the activities, or the activities to the children. Funding assistance can include the purchase of a vehicle, gas costs, maintenance, insurance, garage costs, or other costs related to bringing enrichment to children or children to enrichment.
