NOTE: GM reviews applications on an ongoing basis and requires all requests be submitted at least three months in advance of any program deadline or start date to ensure we have appropriate time to perform due diligence. This application submission is represented by the Letter of Inquiry deadline.General Motors accepts applications from January through September. Corporate Giving We’re helping create inclusive solutions to social issues in the communities in which we live and work around the world. Our philanthropy puts people in the center and is focused under: STEM Education Driving multi-disciplinary STEM skillset development Increase STEM literacy with a focus on foundational reading, math and science skillsIncrease equitable access to STEM resources and professional development that accelerate classroom successIncrease individuals participating and succeeding in career and technical education Transportation Fueling vehicle access and safe road behavior Increase awareness and/or access to current and future transportation solutionsIncrease grid resilience and charging infrastructure availabilityIncrease safe practices in and around vehicles and reduce risky road behaviors Funding Range GM does not limit the request amount and evaluates each request on its own merit. Grant size varies depending on the needs, program proposed by the organization and available funding by GM.

Eligibility

All grant requests must satisfy the following criteria:Applicant is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRSThe Grantee warrants that it is currently exempt from Federal income tax pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and that it has received no notice or information that the IRS determination letter it has provided to General Motors has been revoked, modified, suspended or superseded by IRS action or otherwise.The Grantee agrees to expend the entire grant amount for the purposes stated in the grant and according to the budget specified in the grant proposal.The Grantee will be allowed to shift up to 10% of the grant amount between Grantee’s budget-line items. The Grantee will need permission from General Motors to make any additional budget changes.Applicant demonstrates a strategy to accomplish its mission, successfully operate programs and evaluate/learn from outcomesApplicant demonstrates a level of cash reserves that can sustain the organizationGeneral Motors is focused on making charitable contributions in communities in which the company operates.Please visit the link GM Facilities and Plants for the latest list or geographic areas

Ineligibility

Funds are not available for the following projects, organizations, or purposes:Capital campaigns, endowments, or private buildingsFaith-based organizations for religious purposesGovernment/tax-supported entities including schoolsHospitals and medical-related facilitiesIndividual requests, such as personal scholarshipsVehicle donations or funds to purchase a vehicle Individual K-12 schools, school districts or school clubs/teamsAthletic endeavors or scholarships designated for athletesOther foundations for purposes of building endowmentPolitical candidates, campaigns, or organizationsPrivate clubs, fraternities, or sororitiesRobotics, sports, or race teamsOrganizations that do not share GM's valuesOrganizations that discriminate based on race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, marital status
