Global Grants

Program Description: Global Grants support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in one or more of six areas of focus.

Geographic Scope: International partnerships; must be between a Rotary Club or District in the country where the activity takes place and a Rotary club or District outside of that country.

    Areas of Focus

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

    Required Criteria

  • Be an international partnership between a Rotary Club or District in the country where activity takes place and a Rotary club or District outside that country
  • Sustainable with long-term success plans after grant funds are spent
  • Measurable goals demonstrated through progress reports
  • Align with one or more areas of focus
  • Respond to identified community needs
  • Include active participation from both Rotarians and community members
  • Minimum total budget: US$30,000
  • Meet eligibility requirements in Grants terms and conditions

    What Grants Can Fund

  • Humanitarian projects supporting goals of one or more areas of focus
  • Scholarships for graduate-level academic studies relating to one or more areas of focus
  • Vocational training teams (groups of professionals traveling to learn or teach)

    Funding Structure

  • Combination of: District Designated Funds (DDF) with Club cash contributions and matching funds from The Rotary Foundation's World Fund
  • World Fund Match: 100% of District Designated Funds OR 50% of cash contributions from clubs
  • Minimum World Fund Award: US$15,000 (means minimum overall project budget is $30,000)
  • District 6460 DDF Availability: Funds available to match Global Grants on first-come, first-served basis; limit may be increased at District Governor's discretion based on project scope and number of participating clubs

How to Apply

1. Qualification Process: Before a District or Rotary Club can apply for a grant, it must complete the qualification process
2. Online Application: Once qualified, apply through the online tool at www.rotary.org/grants
3. District Approval: Applications submitted online must still be approved by the District 6460 Global Grants Sub-Committee
4. Rolling Basis: The Rotary Foundation accepts Global Grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year
