Get Your Rear in Gear Community Grants (Colon Cancer Coalition)

Get Your Rear in Gear grants create and fund programs in communities across North America to remove barriers to colorectal cancer screening, educate the public about signs and symptoms, reduce patients' financial burden, and fund research. Funds are raised and invested within local communities that host Get Your Rear in Gear events. The recap form's program categories are Screening, Education/Awareness, Patient/Caregiver Support, Research and Advocacy, and reporting covers people screened, positive FIT/FOBT tests, cancers detected, community members reached and patients/caregivers supported. Named grantees include Duke Cancer Institute (Raleigh), Boston Public Health Commission and Operation Access (San Francisco Bay Area).

Apply through the Coalition's online grant form (linked from the Grants & Funded Programs page). Stated: grant applications are open year-round but are only REVIEWED in February and August. Before applying, have ready your current budget, W9, EIN, logo and supporting documents. Grant recipients must file a recap form on completion or within 12 months, and a recap of the prior year's grant must be complete before a new application will be considered; a Grant Extension Form is available if you are not ready to reapply. Applicants commit to promoting the Get Your Rear in Gear event in their city.
