George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation Grant

The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing the quality of life in Utah through philanthropic efforts. With a mission to support impactful projects in arts, education, community welfare, health, and preservation, the foundation seeks organizations that deliver measurable benefits without duplicating existing services. Applications for 2025 are encouraged to be submitted early, as the grant aims to foster significant community contributions and support a diverse range of initiatives.

For 2025 requests, we strongly encourage applicants to submit materials as early as possible to ensure full consideration.
Arts and Culture
CommunityFoundation gifts in this area are directed to qualified charitable organizations and their projects that provide social services and humanitarian aid to help people in need, including low-income populations, the homeless and hungry, the physically or mentally challenged, and the young and the elderly who may require special assistance, as well as those offering community enrichment for all citizens.
Health & Wellness
Foundation gifts in this area are directed to qualified charitable organizations offering health-care services and information in Utah’s urban and rural areas, including grants for equipment, facilities, and program support for those involved in medical diagnosis, treatment and education, disease prevention, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and the development of creative new ways to address health-care challenges.
Preservation and Conservation
Foundation gifts in this area are directed to qualified charitable organizations that preserve and protect the natural environment, and to those involved in historic preservation including the renovation and restoration of unique historic structures, and programs that foster an understanding and appreciation of the history of Utah and its many cultures.

Eligibility

What the Foundation looks for in making grants:

• Organizations:

whose efforts are focused principally within Utah. with a history of achievement, effectiveness, and good management demonstrating a sound financial condition (supported by current and complete, certified audited financial statements).
which make a distinctive contribution to the community without unnecessarily duplicating other services or programs already in place.
Projects and programs:

which are consistent with the Foundation’s identified focus areas. which have significant potential to make a measurable impact in an area of need.
which the applicant organization considers of highest priority in carrying out its primary objectives in the community.
which show broad-based financial support from a variety of funding sources.

Ineligibility

Funding requests will NOT be considered from the following types of organizations:
Those that have not received a tax exemption letter establishing 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service, unless they are a unit of government, in which case such a letter is not required.Other private foundations.Those of a political nature that attempt to influence legislation and/or candidacy of persons for elected public office.Conduit organizations, unified funds, or those that use funds to make grants to support other organizations.Those that do not have fiscal responsibility for the proposed project.Funding requests will NOT be considered for the following types of projects or programs:
Contingencies, deficits, or debt reduction. General endowment funds.
Direct aid to individuals.
Conferences, seminars, or medical research.
Requests which do not fall within the Foundation’s specified areas of interest.
