General Research Grants

CRF supports all other grant applications that do not fall under specific named awards. The foundation's objective is to find a cure or effective treatment for choroideremia (CHM). CRF supports research that builds critical resources and knowledge for the field and innovative projects that open new pathways for diagnosis and drug discovery.

Focus Areas:

• Research building critical resources and knowledge for the field (e.g., model systems, genetic insights, annotated patient specimens)
• Innovative projects opening new pathways for diagnosis and drug discovery
• Seed funding for early-stage, hypothesis-generating projects
• High-quality proposals from young investigators
• Foundational projects with long-term but important payoffs

Funding Priorities:

• Choroideremia research
• Related inherited retinal diseases

Review Process: Reviewed by CRF's Science Advisory Board twice a year

Background: The Choroideremia Research Foundation (CRF) has awarded more than $6 million in funding through over 100 research grants supporting studies aimed at finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for choroideremia.
