General Grant Funding Program

Funder: Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Inc

Geographic Scope: United States, with preference for Wisconsin-based organizations

Mission Alignment: The foundation is dedicated to preventing cancer, providing superior care to patients, and finding a cure. All applications must align with one of three funding categories.

Funding Categories

Applicants must select one of the following categories:

• Prevent: Programs or projects that build awareness of cancer symptoms and screening requirements, help detect cancer in its earliest stages, and bring screening procedures to more people across the country
• Care: Patient support programs in Wisconsin only (funding restricted to Wisconsin-based initiatives)
• Cure: Organizations conducting innovative scientific and clinical research working to improve therapies and find a cure for cancer

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicant Type: 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations only (preference for Wisconsin-based programs)
• Geographic Preference: Wisconsin-based programs preferred, but national scope acceptable
• Not Eligible: Individuals, families, or for-profit entities
• Capital Campaigns: Not funded
• Capital Expenses: Equipment and new equipment purchases ARE eligible
• Staff Positions: Funds will not be granted to create new staff positions. Staff salaries may be part of overall program budget but cannot be the full amount of the request
• Funding Type: Tangible/direct costs only; intangible or indirect costs not eligible
• Multi-Year Funding: Will not be awarded, but awardees may reapply in subsequent years
• Reapplication: Previous and current grant recipients are eligible to reapply

Award Information

• Past 5-Year Average: $60,000 per program
• Range: $10,000 to $160,000
• Funding Period: January 1 – December 31, 2026
• Review Process: Medical Advisory Committee (comprised of medical experts and oncology specialists across the country) reviews all applications. Recommendations are reviewed by the Board of Directors, who approve final awards.

Grant Acceptance Requirements

• Mid-year progress report required in June 2026
• Final report required in December 2026
• Recognition of VLCF support requested in online and print publications related to funded program
• Collaboration with VLCF to highlight and promote the award is encouraged
