Overview

Gene and Lee Meyer established this scholarship in 1993 to help deserving students in Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties and the Qualla Boundary pursue their college education. As college fees continue to rise, many capable students are forced to limit their educational goals without some type of financial assistance. The objectives of this scholarship are To provide supplemental financial assistance that might enable students to attend the college of their choice andTo reduce the amount students must borrow or earn, which may allow more time to devote to their studies during their years of post-secondary education. This fund will benefit students who are well-rounded, excel in academics and demonstrate potential for future success through leadership, contributions to school/community, and/or work record. The fund will also support students who demonstrate financial need but may not be eligible for federal financial aid.
