Overview

Through the Gender Affirming Identity Document & Emergency Assistance Grant, the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA2S+ Advancement (MOLA) aims to reduce barriers to trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive people being able to access and fully participate in society. By investing in organizations that provide legal and financial assistance, we help remove barriers for name and gender marker changes and offer emergency support for basic needs. This ensures greater inclusivity and equity for LGBTQIA2S+ constituents in Boston. Organizations offering both or either of the following services are encouraged to apply: assistance with legal name and gender marker changesemergency financial assistance to support LGBTQIA2S constituents with their basic needs, including but not limited to food, rental assistance, undergarments, hygiene and sanitary products, utilities, medical expenses, and transportation. This investment will reduce barriers to trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive constituents changing their name and gender on legal documents as well as support LGBTQIA2S+ constituents in crisis.

Have substantial experience in either or both:successfully implementing programming that assists gender affirming identity document & transgender emergency assistance (i.e., number of staff, staff experience, staff time, resources)successfully implementing an emergency assistance program for LGBTQIA2S+ constituents in crisis.have a measurable record of work supporting LGBTQIA2S+ intersectional communities.demonstrate a history of collaboration, providing a sustainable resources, advocacy work and/or providing direct service to LGBTQIA2S+ residentsbe committed to the advancement, empowerment, and inclusion of LGBTQIA2S+ community in the social, economic, civic, and cultural life of Boston
