Gee Hing Chinese Company Charitable Trust - Program Grants

The Gee Hing Chinese Company Charitable Trust provides annual grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations in Hawaii focused on promoting Chinese culture and preserving the history of Chinese communities, particularly in North and South Kona. Grants support projects that enhance the Tong Wo Tong Chinese Cemetery and related cultural initiatives. Eligible organizations must submit a final report before requesting additional funding. The Trust does not fund individuals, endowments, or deficit financing, ensuring the support is directed toward meaningful cultural preservation.

The purpose of the Gee Hing Chinese Company Charitable Trust is for the perpetual care, promotion, enhancement and preservation of the Tong Wo Tong Chinese Cemetery historical site located in Keauhou, Hawaii and for the promotion of Chinese culture and preservation of the history of Chinese in North and South Kona, Hawaii.
The trustees’ general policy is to consider one request each year from qualified organizations in the State of Hawaii with programs and projects that promote Chinese culture and preservation of the history of Chinese in the State of Hawaii with a primary emphasis in North and South Kona, a secondary emphasis on the island of Hawaii and third throughout the remainder of the State.

Eligibility

Applications for grants must be qualified tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) charitable organizations in the State of Hawaii.Grants are restricted to programs/projects that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history.A final report must be submitted before another grant may be requested.  All organizations must be in the state of Hawaii.

Ineligibility

The Trust does not make grants directly to individuals, to endowments,
for reserve purposes, or deficit financing.  It does not provide
multiple-year funding.
