    Eligibility Requirements

  • Nonprofit Status: Must be tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3)
  • Impact Focus: Organizations must be engaged in one or more of the following:
  • - Research through academic or healthcare entities to improve diagnosis and treatment of cancer - Support and advocacy services for cancer patients, survivors and their families - Access-focused efforts that expand availability of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment
  • Community Integration: Organizations should be well-integrated in the communities they serve and demonstrate meaningful collaboration with other partners in the cancer care ecosystem

    Grant Awards

  • Award Amounts: No minimum or maximum allowable grant request
  • Multi-year Requests: May not exceed four (4) years
  • Budget Requirements: Funding proposals should reflect a reasonable proportion of the overall project or program budget and demonstrate support from other revenue sources, funders or community partners
  • Review Process: All proposals reviewed by Board of Directors with expertise in research, healthcare, and nonprofit program operations

    What the Foundation Does NOT Fund

  • Grants or loans to individuals
  • Scholarships or tuition assistance for graduate/postgraduate studies
  • Travel
  • Endowments or endowed chairs
  • General/unrestricted contributions to annual or capital campaigns
  • Loan or emergency funds, or requests to discharge pre-existing debts
  • Religious organizations for religious purposes
  • Political campaigns or activities affiliated with political parties
  • Projects that are typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government
  • Sponsorships or fundraising events
  • Organizations based outside of the United States
  • Any organization that discriminates on the basis of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, race, religion, ability, or economic background

How to Apply

1. Ensure Eligibility
- Review the Foundation's guidelines and limitations
- Confirm your organization qualifies for grant submission

2. Letter of Inquiry (Strongly Encouraged)
- Organizations that have never received funding, or past grantees requesting funds for a new project, are encouraged to submit a one-page Letter of Inquiry before submitting a formal proposal
- Inquiries are accepted on a rolling basis
- Will be reviewed to determine alignment with Foundation's mission and funding priorities
- If approved, applicants will be invited to submit a formal proposal for the next competitive grant cycle

3. Complete Funding Application

4. Submit Application
- Submit completed application and all supporting documents to: information@galaofhope.net
- Email confirmation will be provided within ten (10) business days of receipt

    Application Deadlines

  • Spring Cycle: April 30
  • Fall Cycle: September 30
  • Completed applications accepted twice per year
  • Board decisions made twice per year (typically June and December)
  • Applicants notified of Board decision by June 30 and December 31, respectively

Review Criteria and Approval Process

All funding proposals undergo thorough review to ensure Foundation compliance with all legal requirements. Foundation staff and board members may conduct site visits or meet with prospective grantees.

Priority is given to proposals that demonstrate:

  • Strong foundation of financial and operational stability

  • Clear implementation strategy and timeline

  • Adequate staffing and infrastructure to deliver results

  • Capacity for ongoing sustainability and meaningful community benefit
    • Grant Decisions

    • All grant decisions made by the Board of Directors
    • Full board meets to consider applications twice per year, typically in June and December

      Post-Award Requirements

      Outcome Reporting:
    • Grantees must submit written reports about funded projects
    • Reports must include financial accounting of expenditure of awarded funds
    • Reporting schedule and questions sent to grantee upon execution of grant agreement
    • Failure to submit required reports will indefinitely disqualify a grantee from future funding

    The Foundation has implemented safeguards to protect the confidentiality of preliminary inquiries, grant proposals and supporting materials. However, the Foundation cannot guarantee confidentiality of ideas, concepts or intellectual property. Applicants are encouraged to take reasonable steps to protect sensitive information.
