Summary

The Foundation for the Future of Delaware County offers grants aimed at enhancing community development and education for residents of Delaware County, Iowa. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, and municipalities, with up to $7,500 available per project. A special $20,000 impact grant will be awarded in 2025 for innovative programs that benefit the entire county. Priority will be given to new and previously unfunded initiatives starting in 2026.

Overview

Each year the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County accepts applications for grants for community development, community promotions, community education and similar matters. The grant shall be for the benefit of persons residing in Delaware County, Iowa. Entities that have a 501(c)3 designation by the Internal Revenue Service or schools or municipalities are eligible to apply for these funds. Our Funding Priorities While the FFDC accepts all eligible applications, priority will be given to those projects or programs introducing new, innovative ideas. Please note: Beginning in 2026, priority will be given to organizations that did not receive funding in the prior year. Funding Organizations may apply for up to $7,500 for their projects. For 2025, in celebration of our 20th anniversary, we will grant one $20,000 impact grant. Organizations with an innovative project or program that will impact all of Delaware County will have the option to apply.

To be eligible for funding, an organization/program must:Provide services within Delaware County and/or support Delaware County residents. Operate in a manner that no applicable anti-discrimination laws are violated.Be a Nonprofit 501(c)(3), public institution, and/or charitable organization.For organizations without nonprofit status, partnering with a fiscal sponsor organization will be required along with a signed agreement from the fiscal sponsor who will be legally and financially responsible; if you need clarification on fiscal sponsorship, please contact Amanda Diers at ffdc@dbqfoundation.org.

In general, grants are not made from Community Needs Fund for the following:Religious purposes (this does not exclude grants to religious organizations)EndowmentsIndividualsOne day eventsOrganizations recurring operating expenses (i.e., staffing, building rent, etc.)More than one grant per year to each organization (with exception to city, hospital, and schools)
