About the Virginia Outdoors Foundation The Virginia Outdoors Foundation is Virginia’s leader in land conservation, having protected more than 930,000 acres in 114 counties and cities. VOF was created by the Virginia General Assembly in 1966. Today, we receive both public and private support for our work. VOF protects a wide variety of open spaces, from farms and forests to parks and historic landscapes. We work with federal, state, local, and private conservation organizations to achieve our mission. Forest CORE Fund (Mountain Valley Pipeline Region) The Forest CORE (Community Opportunities for Restoration and Enhancement) Fund for the Mountain Valley Pipeline region was established under VOF’s TERRA Program in June 2018 using $15 million from a mitigation agreement between the Commonwealth of Virginia and Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC. Grants will be awarded to projects that mitigate for forest fragmentation by preserving, connecting and enhancing forest resources. Project Area Projects must be located within localities 50 miles or less from the Mountain Valley Pipeline route.
