Founded in 1928, EBCF was one of the nation’s first community foundations, now serving people across Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We partner with donors, fund advisors, social movements, and the wider community to eliminate structural barriers, advance racial equity, and transform political, social, and economic outcomes for all East Bay residents. Scholarship Opportunities East Bay Community Foundation’s Scholarships Program allows us to support the success of East Bay children and youth through funds established for any level of study, from preschool to postgraduate. Funds can support any area of educational expenses, including tuition, housing, books, supplies, and other educational fees. Fly Me To The Foon Scholarship The Fly Me To The Foon Scholarship honors the memory of Neel Thomas Foon, musician, mentor and friend. This scholarship provides funding to music students at Oakland School for the Arts to help purchase musical instruments and/or pay for private music lessons to enhance their skills. Four scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to enrolled students of OSA each year (two middle school and two high school students).
