Florence Baldwin Scholarship Grant

The Florence Baldwin Scholarship, provided by East Bay Community Foundation, supports young women from the East Bay facing financial barriers to higher education. Established in honor of Florence Baldwin, this scholarship aids those who might not otherwise attend college, covering various educational expenses. By fostering educational opportunities, the Foundation aims to empower future leaders and promote equity within the community, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the pursuit of academic success.

In addition to our grantmaking, we engage in advocacy within allowable limits to advance racial justice.
Scholarship Opportunities
East Bay Community Foundation’s Scholarships Program allows us to support the success of East Bay children and youth through funds established for any level of study, from preschool to postgraduate. Funds can support any area of educational expenses, including tuition, housing, books, supplies, and other educational fees. Award funds used for expenditures outside of tuition, fees, books, and required supplies may be taxable. Awards are typically paid directly to the institution providing instruction.
The Florence Baldwin Scholarship honors the life and work of long-time Berkeley resident Florence Baldwin by supporting the higher education of young women from the East Bay who would not otherwise be able to attend college due to financial need. This scholarship is administered in collaboration with Oakland Promise.
