Flaherty NYC Programmer Residency

Organization: International Film Seminars Inc (The Flaherty)

Geographic Scope: United States (New York City based)

Overview:
A professional development residency program inviting an individual programmer or co-programmers to develop an ambitious screening series in New York City with mentorship and professional opportunities.

Program Components:

  • Design and curate a thematic screening series for New York City

  • Spring 2020 program: 1 retrospective of films from past Flaherty Seminars relevant to proposed theme

  • Fall 2020 program: 6-night series (one every other Monday, October-December), max 90 minutes of films followed by 45 minutes of discussion

  • Monthly meetings with Flaherty staff (January-October) in preparation for programming

  • Mentorship from past Flaherty NYC and Flaherty Film Seminar programmers

  • Attendance at the annual Robert Flaherty Film Seminar (June) and presentation at Flaherty Fellows Curatorial Workshop

  • Introduce films and participate in all screenings

  • Write an essay about the Fall series

  • Deliver final report on residency

    Requirements for Selected Programmers

    • Present at the Flaherty Fellows Curatorial Workshop
