FishAmerica Foundation R3 Grant Program

Program Purpose

Support the sportfishing community's efforts to Recruit, Retain and Reactivate (R3) anglers. The program supports American Sportfishing Association (ASA) member retailers and ASA members working with retailers to implement programs that build the recreational fishing community, expand fishing tackle retailer engagement, and create new revenue opportunities.

    Eligibility

  • Only ASA member retailers or ASA members working with any retailer can apply
  • Community organizations and/or state/federal conservation agencies may partner on proposed R3 programs (encouraged but not required)

    Grant Details

  • Award Range: $500 to $10,000 per project
  • Funding Available: 10 to 20 projects funded annually
  • Project Duration: Expected to be completed within 1 year of award
  • Funding Type: In most cases, funds provided on a reimbursable basis

Program Objectives

1. Recruitment: Attract new anglers to the sport 2. Retention: Keep existing anglers engaged and active, developing long-term customers for the industry (preference given to retention-focused programs) 3. Reactivation: Encourage former anglers to return to fishing

    Reporting Requirements

  • Comprehensive final report upon project completion, including outcomes and lessons learned
  • Photos of efforts being conducted
  • Possible brief midway project update

Application Process

2. Required Documentation:
- Standard application materials (available on website)
- W9 or IRS Letter of Determination (for nonprofit organizations) if selected for funding

3. Optional/Helpful Documentation:
- Letter of support from state natural resources agency
- Letters of support from any program partners

4. Application Deadline: Midnight (Eastern Time) on January 6 annually
- Note: Deadline may be extended at FishAmerica Foundation's discretion

5. Submission Format: Online via fishamerica.org portal
