Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Firehouse Subs founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, traveled to Mississippi where they fed first responders as well as survivors. As they traveled back to Florida exhausted and exhilarated, they knew we could do more and the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was born. Our mission is to impact the lifesaving capabilities, and the lives, of local heroes and their communities. This is accomplished by providing lifesaving equipment and prevention education tools to first responders and public safety organizations. Our funding areas include: Provide first responders with lifesaving equipment.Provide prevention education tools to the public about the importance of public safety in order to prevent disasters in the home and community.Provide financial resources or continued education to individuals pursuing a career in public safety.Provide assistance and resources during and after natural and man-made disasters such as fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.Benefit men and women of the military who have served their country in any of the branches of the United States Uniformed Services. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time firefighter, law enforcement, or emergency medical (paramedic or EMT) program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. The program is administered by Scholarship America on behalf of the Foundation. The scholarship recipient will receive a $5,000 award. Awards are not renewable; however students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.Eligibility

Firehouse Subs employee applicants to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Scholarship Program must: Be a Firehouse Subs employee who has a minimum of six months employment with the company as of the application deadline, andBe high school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates, andPlan to enroll in a part-time or full-time firefighter, law enforcement, or an emergency medical (paramedic or EMT) program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year andPlan to pursue a career as a first responder; firefighter, police officer, paramedic or EMT.
